Paul Smith was recently recruited to the Board due to his connection with the upcoming centennial of the Kentfield Fire District. Paul joined the District in 1975, serving the community until 2016, when he retired as fire chief. He resided in Greenbrae from 1974 through 1984 and lives in Fairfax with his wife, Mary Ann.
Last year Paul proposed writing a book recounting the history of the organization that began service in 1922 as a small volunteer fire company and is now a full service, all risk, fire and life safety organization. The Board and Fire Chief enthusiastically agreed that his idea had merit and allow Paul access to the archived records. He has completed his research through the 1970’s and is currently collecting oral histories of past members. He hope to complete his draft next year and is enthusiastically engaged with the members of the Kentfield Greenbrae Historical Society.
